Debt Control Unit

Limit heating debts by curbing unpaid usage

We have launched a revolutionary control device, designed to help managing agents and landlords manage the debt levels on their heat networks under their control.

The Debt Control Unit (DCU) restricts the amount of heat that a resident can draw from the heat network whilst also helping to ensure that residents keep up to date with their credit account obligations, maintaining a smooth process for all involved.

The DCU is hosted within the property itself, often situated beside the Heat Interface Unit (HIU) and connected to the building network. It’s managed remotely from anywhere, with a secure connection through our cloud-based software. This allows consumption parameters to be set to suit specific requirements and situations. The DCU comes with its very own tamper detection system that sends an alert to the Heat Network Operator to flag sabotage attempts.

For the Heat Network Operator, this is an important element of financial control. It provides resilience and saves time when managing the accounts of residents who are regularly outside their normal payment terms.

The DCU is available with two fitting options – Retrofit and New Build:

Retrofit applications

For existing installations, it is not uncommon for there to be a culture of non-payment. In these situations, we can undertake a discreet installation service for the DCU. The unit is installed and commissioned while completing a routine HIU service visit, which is our recommended course of action to Retrofit. It may be necessary to install further hardware to the building to allow for the apartment level system to be commissioned. Our DCU is compatible with most leading makes of HIU and building networks.

New builds

For Developers, you might want additional control in your new development. Our DCU unit is the perfect solution – at an affordable price and easy to install within the heat metering phase of the development. Planning the installation is undertaken with your building team as part of the overall delivery process. We works with manufacturers of heat interface units to ensure compatibility between the HIU and the DCU.

Ongoing maintenance

Throughout the year, we regularly check on the system’s operation. It is important that the DCU should be tested and inspected during the annual servicing of the HIU unit.
