Previous Secretary for Northern Ireland, Lord Ian Duncan, has been appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Climate Change.

Working with COP26 President and previous Energy and Clean Growth Minister Claire Perry, Lord Duncan will lead the Government on subjects such as heat decarbonisation, smart energy systems, low-carbon innovation and smart metering. Additionally, Lord Duncan will serve as the Lords lead on broader issues covered by the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Lord Duncan’s appointment completes the reorganisation at BEIS under new Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
