Ofgem has published its first list of registered heat networks, marking another important milestone as the sector moves towards the January 2027 registration deadline.

The list includes heat networks that completed registration through Ofgem’s digital service between 27 April and 19 October 2026, with further updates expected monthly.

For property managers, it’s a timely reminder to check the registration status of the networks they manage and, just as importantly, confirm who is responsible for making sure registration is completed.

What does it mean for your networks?

If your network is not on the list, you should check who is coordinating registration, whether it’s been submitted, whether work is still underway and what remains outstanding.

Three questions to ask now

    • Do you know your networks’ registration status? Confirm which networks have completed registration, which are in progress and whether any still require action.

    • Are the responsible parties clearly identified? Establish who the Heat Supplier and Operator are for each network, and who is coordinating registration.

    • Are the right processes and information in place? Check that responsibilities, handovers and supporting records are understood, accessible and up to date.

Registration is only part of the countdown.

Ofgem registration is an important milestone, but it isn’t the end of the compliance journey.

From metering and billing to consumer protections, complaints, vulnerability, reporting and technical standards, there are wider obligations that heat network stakeholders need to understand and prepare for.

That’s why we’ve created The Final Countdown: The Essential Pocket Guide to Heat Network Regulation.

Designed specifically for property managers, it breaks down the requirements into practical actions, helping you understand who’s responsible for what, identify potential gaps and prioritise what needs attention.
