Reflections from the UKDEA Heat Network Compliance Expo

We recently joined the UKDEA Heat Network Compliance Expo – a focused event bringing together housing providers, ESCOs and technical teams across the sector. With regulation on the way and authorisation just months off, it couldn’t have come at a better time.

The day was full of practical insight, open discussion and a strong sense of shared purpose. From what compliance looks like in practice to how we can work better together, it was a valuable checkpoint on the road to 2026.

Here’s what our Business Operations Manager, Katherine Baker, had to say:

It was such a pleasure to be part of it. If you were there too, you’ll know how well put together the day was – full of useful insights and great conversations.

There was a real mix of people from across the sector, and it was great to represent our part of the heat network world. I heard how others are preparing, and it reminded me how valuable it is to share challenges, celebrate progress and swap ideas.

What stood out most? The energy in the room. It’s easy to feel weighed down by change – but not here. Every conversation was focused on doing better, being ready, and improving how heat networks work in the UK.

I left feeling genuinely inspired. There’s work to do – but regulation is the right step. And while 2026 might seem a way off, authorisation opens in just six months. It’s coming quickly – but we’re ready.
